She's a well-endowed brunette with a typically 70's body -- slightly rounded in all the right places. Linda Lovelace was thrust into the national spotlight in 1972 with her starring role in 'Deep Throat,' one of the all-time classics of erotic entertainment. It was a groundbreaking sex film that starred Linda Lovelace as a woman who can't have an orgasm until she realizes that her clit is in her throat. What follows has made Linda Lovelace's name synonymous with oral sex for over 25 years. 'Deep Throat' was virtually Linda Lovelace's only completed film. Linda Lovelace appeared in a few late 60's and early 70's loops before she was catapulted to sexual superstardom. Her post-'Throat' work reached a high point with her lusty oral romp with John C. Holmes in 'Exotic French Fantasies.' Linda Lovelace's name on a marquee was a 70's guarantee of success, so she popped up in numerous quickie compilations, but never again filmed a full-fledged sex film. Linda Lovelace disappeared into a haze of drug use and sexual excess, re-emerging in the mid-1980's as an outspoken opponent of the porn industry. Linda Lovelace died on April 22, 2002 from internal injuries she suffered in a car crash. She was 53. Linda's Early Years and how she started: Her passive father looked on as her mother brutalized her. She left home young, dumped a child in an orphanage, and ended up with one Chuck Traynor, a small-time hoodlum and occasional producer of porn loops, who hired her to dance topless at his club, then pimped for her, and soon starred her in the film Doggarama and then finally Deep Throat. Once Deep Throat became a hit, Lovelace was in demand. Hugh Hefner featured her in Playboy and she was seen with celebrities. Linda Lovelace said she made Deep Throat because she was hypnotized and threatened with a gun to the head by her paramour and pimp, Traynor. Unsurprisingly, male viewers especially did not see a victim. When Lovelace spoke out against the movie, it was pointed out that she seemed to take great delight in her performance. She said that the bruises on her legs, clearly visible in the film, were evidence to the contrary - but who was looking there? In later years she ended up married to a sporadically-employed handyman. Always living near the edge of financial and legal disaster (she was at one point fired from a clerical job for falsifying her timecard), they nevertheless produced two children before divorcing in 1996. Pathetically, she recently told a Denver reporter that, "I prostituted myself (to the handyman, whom she labeled an abusive alcoholic) so I could have my kids. They were the most important thing to me. They were all I ever wanted."
